Astana Motors Comprehensive Precision Measurement Project for White Bodies
03 Apr,2026
As a leading automotive group in Kazakhstan, Astana Motors holds the exclusive distribution and agency rights for multiple top international and Chinese auto brands, including Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, and Geely, covering the full industrial chain of localized vehicle assembly, brand sales and after-sales operation services. During the digital upgrading of production lines and iteration of the body-in-white inspection system, the enterprise faced core industrial pain points, including insufficient overall body-in-white inspection accuracy, difficult selection and adaptation of precision measuring equipment, detection blind spots caused by single equipment application, fragmented cross-border technical docking, and uncontrollable project delivery cycles. It urgently needed a fully adapted, cost-effective and all-dimensional integrated precision measurement solution to stabilize vehicle assembly quality, ensure mass production compliance, and consolidate the quality foundation for multi-brand localized manufacturing.

A common industrial dilemma exists in the precision measurement industry: various measuring equipment manufacturers tend to undertake the entire project independently and promote their exclusive full-set equipment solutions, attempting to monopolize the whole project scope. However, such single-brand solutions cannot meet the comprehensive and complex inspection requirements of body-in-white structures, resulting in obvious technical limitations. For instance, professional 3D scanning vendors focus only on surface data collection and cannot achieve micron-level high-precision calibration for key hole positions and benchmark points; contact measuring equipment manufacturers excel at local high-accuracy point detection but are incapable of full-vehicle large-area surface reconstruction; optical photogrammetry devices are suitable for wide-range body positioning but fail to meet ultra-precision single-point tolerance standards. Adopting a single-vendor solution would directly cause detection blind spots, insufficient data complementarity, redundant equipment investment, higher procurement costs, prolonged production line adaptation cycles, and additional subsequent rectification expenses.
Standing completely from the client’s perspectives of production efficiency and cost control, we acted as an independent and professional system integrator to customize a full-set integrated precision measurement solution for body-in-white inspection. We established in-depth cooperation with high-quality domestic manufacturers of contact measuring devices, 3D scanners, articulated arm measuring instruments, laser rangefinders and optical photogrammetry equipment. Abandoning the defective model of single-brand monopoly and simple equipment stacking, we scientifically matched differentiated equipment and measurement processes according to diverse inspection scenarios, accuracy standards and structural detection difficulties of body-in-white products. High-precision contact measurement was applied for key assembly holes and benchmark positioning points; 3D scanning and optical photogrammetry were adopted for full-vehicle surface data acquisition; articulated arms and laser rangefinders were deployed for flexible production line sampling and rapid on-site verification. Through multi-equipment collaborative operation and cross-verification of multiple measurement methods, we completely eliminated detection blind spots and realized core functions including full-body surface data collection, real-time CAD model comparison, high-precision key point measurement and full-dimensional error analysis.
Throughout the whole project cycle, we gave full play to our core advantages in overall integration and refined project management, solving prominent problems such as inconsistent technical standards, disjointed delivery schedules, independent operation of after-sales systems and insufficient cooperation among different equipment suppliers. To address the industrial problems of vendor monopoly, disjointed technical systems and closed technical barriers, we unified project technical standards, equipment calibration specifications, delivery schedules and after-sales operation systems. We took full charge of the whole process including supply chain scheduling, cross-border equipment delivery, on-site joint commissioning and calibration, technical training and long-term operation and maintenance. We actively coordinated all equipment manufacturers to conduct in-depth cooperation and joint technical research, break brand technical barriers, and realize compatible collaboration and data interconnection of multi-category equipment.
Relying on our professional integrated management capabilities, we effectively avoided the problems of monopolistic pricing and technical limitations caused by single-vendor cooperation. We optimized the equipment matching structure, significantly reduced the client’s procurement cost and subsequent transformation cost, unified multi-party resource scheduling, shortened the technical adaptation and overall project delivery cycle, and ensured accurate, standardized and controllable project implementation. In addition, we provided all-round technical empowerment for the client’s production team, covering professional training on equipment operation, daily maintenance, data reading and analysis, CAD model comparison application and basic fault troubleshooting. This enabled the client’s team to quickly master the full-set inspection capabilities and adapt to the full-scenario requirements of digital production, data traceability and quality management of the KD factory.
We completed the full-process terminal delivery in cooperation with qualified local integrators in Kazakhstan. Leveraging our multilingual communication and cross-border collaboration advantages, we built a closed-loop system covering equipment supply, technical docking, on-site implementation and after-sales support, efficiently solving various cross-regional collaboration difficulties. After the high-quality and on-time project delivery, Astana Motors achieved all-round improvements in body-in-white inspection accuracy, data completeness and detection efficiency, with a significant reduction in vehicle assembly defects, fully complying with local mass production quality standards and market access specifications in Kazakhstan.
This cooperation fully embodies Simplex’s core service philosophy of "serving all clients wholeheartedly regardless of scale". From an independent integration perspective, we break the industry drawbacks of single-equipment monopoly. With our capabilities of full-chain integration, refined project management and multi-vendor collaborative empowerment, we continuously help overseas automobile enterprises reduce costs, improve efficiency and quality, and realize digital upgrading, empowering clients to deepen their layout in the Central Asian automobile market and expand core competitive advantages sustainably.
